Here at Little Guys Movers, we love all things October — pumpkins, Halloween spooks, and a much needed change in the weather, for instance. But another thing that’s important about October is that it’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month. This year, Little Guys Movers worked to raise money for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation by taking donations and selling limited edition apparel. And each individual location got involved locally, too. Little Guys Movers in San Antonio took part in Paint the Parkway Pink, an annual 5k Fun Run that supports the ThriveWell Cancer Foundation.
This was our first year taking part in the event, but it won’t be our last! We participated by helping move the necessary equipment for set up, passing out water bottles to runners, helping direct runners, and passing out carnations to survivors.
“It was important to us to participate in an event that helped raise awareness for breast cancer — as a company, but as individuals too,” said San Antonio Branch Manager Logan Ford. “Not only has breast cancer affected our loved ones, but it affects women across the globe. We wanted to get out and do something meaningful for the community and we thought, what better way to do that than to volunteer our time to help with a 5K Fun Run.”
And it turns out, the Little Guys’ help was very much needed: “One thing that the event organizer pointed out to us was that because this disease mostly affects women, there are not as many men there to help with some of the heavy lifting that goes into the setup,” said Logan. “We had the pleasure of being those guys.”
