Moving is a great opportunity to downsize and get rid of all your unwanted stuff. If you’re moving in Waco, here are the best places to donate the things you don’t need so you can move into your new space with a clean slate.
Salvation Army Thrift Store
The Salvation Army in Waco takes used clothing, furniture, and home goods in gently used condition. You can either drop off your items at the drive-up donation center or schedule a pick up at your home. The Salvation Army resells your donations, as well as provides emergency vouchers to families in need who can shop the store at no cost.
Habitat for Humanity ReStore
The Waco ReStore is a building materials recycling center. It accepts items like cabinets, ceiling fans, appliances, flooring, tools, lighting, and other large items and items used during renovations. Everything is either used by Habitat for Humanity while building homes or sold at the store. This is a great option if you have building materials or appliances to unload.
Caritas of Waco
Caritas of Waco is a nonprofit fighting food insecurity and hunger in Waco. One branch of the organization is a store called Hidden Treasures. Hidden Treasures accepts gently used clothing, furniture, dishware, electronics, and antiques. The proceeds from the sale of these items goes towards Caritas of Waco to give back to the Waco community.
Mission Waco
Mission Waco runs the Clothesline and Voucher Center, a store that provides affordable clothing and accessories for women in the community to purchase. They accept all clothing donations (including men’s clothing) that are in gently used condition.
Humane Society of Central Texas
Animal shelters need items, too! The Humane Society of Central Texas accepts gently used pet items, linens, blankets, bedsheets, pet beds, and pet toys for the animals in their care.
Friends of the Waco Library
Have books to donate? The Friends of the Waco Library will gladly take any books that are in good condition, as well as magazines, textbooks, and CDs, DVDs, and audiobooks in their original cases.
Social Resale Websites
Facebook Marketplace, Craigslist, and other resale sites are a great place to sell your unwanted items, but you can list things for free, too, if you don’t want to deal with coordinating with buyers. Leave your item on the curb, provide the street name, and list it as first come, first serve. Your stuff will be gone before you know it. And don’t forget to take down your listing once everything has been picked up!
