At Little Guys Movers in Fort Collins, we love to boast that we can move anything. And while that’s true to an extent — there’s no item too big, heavy, or complicated for us! — there are some things we don’t move for safety reasons. These are the items that movers in Fort Collins will not move, including why we can’t take the risk.
Perishable Food
The reason for this is simple — movers can’t keep food cold during the move. We don’t want your food spoiling in the moving truck and potentially making you sick, so we’ll only move nonperishable food items. If you don’t want your nonperishables, either, Little Guys Movers is a Move For Hunger partner, which means we can take your unopened canned and boxed foods and donate them. Just let us know you’d like to donate food before your moving day!
Propane Tanks or Equipment that Contain Gas
Propane gas is highly flammable, so movers cannot move them and risk an incident. In addition to propane tanks, any equipment that uses gas like mowers or snowblowers cannot be moved by movers in Fort Collins.
Pets
This may seem obvious, but movers do not move pets. This includes pets like dogs and cats, as well as small animals like hamsters, fish, or reptiles. We can move animals’ cages or tanks, but they must be completely empty first.
Firearms & Ammunition
Due to safety and legal concerns, movers cannot move any firearms or ammo. You can choose to move these items yourself (check your local laws to be sure), or hire a licensed firearm mover in your area.
Scuba Gear
Scuba tanks hold high pressure gasses that could explode if they aren’t handled correctly. We can’t risk a scuba tank bumping against something in our truck and causing a disaster, so you’ll have to find another option for moving your scuba gear.
Fireworks
Similarly, fireworks run the risk of going off during the move. Thus, movers will not transport fireworks.
Pool Chemicals
Pool or hot tub chemicals are considered hazardous materials and cannot be moved by a moving company. We can, however, move standalone hot tubs!
