Proud to Support Our Military
Each day, a United States flag flies proudly over Bagram Airfield in Afghanistan. When Operation Enduring Freedom was completed in 2014, Operation Freedom’s Sentinel began as the United States’ continued mission against the War on Terrorism. The flags flown during this combat mission can be dedicated in someone’s honor — an honor that was recently bestowed on Little Guys Movers by Special Agent Fred Michael Manning.
Manning met Little Guys co-owners Chris Hawley and Marcus Watson in Denton, Texas while volunteering with 35 Denton, a local music festival. Fred got to know Chris and Marcus over the years, and he was moved by their consistent support and appreciation for the military, as well as their heart for the Denton community. Little Guys Movers was founded in Denton in 1992, and has been giving back to the city ever since. Little Guys Movers stays involved through events like Denton’s Day of the Dead and the Arts and Jazz Festival, as well as charities like Move For Hunger, which collects canned goods for the hungry, and Keep Denton Warm, an initiative that gathers winter wear for Denton’s homeless.
Inspired to honor Little Guys Movers for their hard work and dedication to the city of Denton, Manning chose to dedicate a combat flag on their behalf. On September 17, 2018, Fred and BAF Provost Marshal Capt. John Kiser raised the American flag in honor of Little Guys Movers. Little Guys Movers is honored to receive this distinction from the United States Army, and moved to be given such a meaningful gift from a friend.
